Don has practiced in the liability insurance coverage area his entire legal career since 1989. He was elected a Director of Jackson & Campbell in 1997. He has served on the Firm’s Executive Committee and is currently Chair of its Diversity Committee. Don has extensive litigation experience in cases throughout the United States involving environmental and toxic tort issues in connection with varied lines of business, including small businesses, manufacturers, utilities, petroleum and chemical companies, and railroads in the United States and Europe. He also has extensive experience representing clients involved in asbestos-related bankruptcies. Don has practiced before state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States.

He also routinely assists insureds in developing strategies for claims handling and litigation, as well as negotiating favorable cost sharing arrangements among various affected entities. Don also has extensive experience with representing clients in pre- or non litigation settings such as mediation and settlement negotiations. Don also assists clients in assessing the scope of coverage between named and additional insureds.

Don is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Case Western Reserve University. He earned his law degree from Georgetown University. He received a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and is fluent in French. He has co-authored an article analyzing bad faith issues arising in insurance coverage litigation, as well as another article discussing the scope of coverage for natural resource damages claims.
